Eligibility:
The contest is open to all residents of Iowa, regardless of age or artistic background. You can submit up to one (1) design per person. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, and how well they represent the theme of Juneteenth in Iowa.

The winner will receive recognition on our website and social media. In addition, the winning design will be featured on t-shirts sold at the event, and the designer will receive a complimentary t-shirt.

- The design should represent Juneteenth and its significance in American history, with a focus on Iowa.
- The design should be original and not previously published or used for any other purpose.
- The design should be appropriate for all ages and not include any offensive or discriminatory language or imagery.
- The design should be submitted in a high-resolution format (at least 300 dpi) in either JPG or PNG format.
- The design should fit within the dimensions of a standard T-shirt (approximately 12 inches wide by 16 inches tall).

The winner of our 2023 T-Shirt contest is Jaemal Sullivan.
An Iowa native and Roosevelt Rough Riders 2013 Alumni. A dear friend recommended that he use his talents to create a design for the Juneteenth holiday and give back to the community. Jaemel started his design company Kreative Products with an online Etsy store at the beginning of 2023. His inspiration came from getting tired of buying other designs when he could make his own. He started working to spread the word about his new business working with affiliate programs that provide clothing and jewelry to gain clientele. We asked Jaemal what the Juneteenth holiday means to him, he said “I am still learning what this holiday means through educating myself more. Thus far I would say that the liberations have allowed me to express myself more clearly. It feels like a weight has been lifted and people can do more for themselves and their families”.
