2023 we are bringing in a new contest for artists in the Iowa and surrounding area, to give an opportunity to create a design that will be used as the official shirt to be worn for the 2023 Juneteenth Observance celebrations. We encourage you to incorporate elements that celebrate the rich history and culture of Juneteenth, while also showcasing the spirit of Iowa.

The winner of our 2023 T-Shirt contest is Jaemal Sullivan.
An Iowa native and Roosevelt Rough Riders 2013 Alumni. A dear friend recommended that he use his talents to create a design for the Juneteenth holiday and give back to the community. Jaemel started his design company Kreative Products with an online Etsy store at the beginning of 2023. His inspiration came from getting tired of buying other designs when he could make his own. He started working to spread the word about his new business working with affiliate programs that provide clothing and jewelry to gain clientele. We asked Jaemal what the Juneteenth holiday means to him, he said “I am still learning what this holiday means through educating myself more. Thus far I would say that the liberations have allowed me to express myself more clearly. It feels like a weight has been lifted and people can do more for themselves and their families”.
