National Juneteenth Observance Foundation
The Iowa Juneteenth Observance is affiliated with the
National Juneteenth Observance Foundation, which is under the
leadership of Rev. Dr. Ronald V. Myers, President. Dr. Myers is
spearheading a national campaign to make Juneteenth National Freedom
(Juneteenth) an official national holiday observance.
There are now 35 states, and the District of Columbia, that have made Juneteenth
National Freedom Day (Juneteenth) a state holiday or observance. The
most recent state is Ohio. “Ohio joins
Texas, Florida, Oklahoma,
Delaware, Alaska, Idaho, Iowa, California, Wyoming, Illinois,
Missouri, Connecticut, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Colorado,
Arkansas, Oregon, Kentucky, Michigan, New Mexico, Virginia,
Washington State, Tennessee, Massachusetts, North Carolina, West
Virginia, South Carolina, Vermont, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota,
Indiana and the District
of Columbia in recognizing the end of enslavement in America,"
states Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., M.D., who grew up celebrating Juneteenth in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

National Juneteenth Holiday Campaign Chair Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., M.D. is asking Congress to enact legislation to make Junteenth a national day of observance in America.
