Juneteenth Exhibit" at the State Historical Building
June 11 – Gospel Concert, featuring
Kierra "Ki-Ki" Sheard" at Des Moines First Assembly
Church at 7:00 pm, doors open at 6:00 pm. Adults $20 in
advance, $25 at door, Ages 10 and under $10 and only

Conference, "The Church: Beyond Our Four Walls" Maple
Street Missionary Baptist Church (Resheduled TBA)
June 14 – The full day of activities are as follows:
- Formal announcement
of 2010-11 Miss Iowa Juneteenth, Yeshimbra Green of
Des Moines Roosevelt High School.
- "Funshop" (Healthy
Eating for One or Two) at the Central Senior Center
at 2008 Forest Ave. (Des Moines), from 12:30 pm to
2:30 pm. Door prises, free samples, and food
prepartion demonstrations. Facilitated by registered
and licensed dietitian, Ann Cundiff. Free and open
to the public (targeting senior citizens or people
who cook for senior citizens)
June 17 - Proclamation ceremony at
10:00 am, at the Iowa Secretary of State's Office,
Capitol Building, and presentation of the Liberty Award.
Free and open to the public.
June 18 - The full day of activities are as follows:
- Iowa Juneteenth King
& Queen Coronation at Cornerstone Family Church,
3114 S.W. 61st Street, Des Moines.

Tickets are $30 each for
the general public; a table of 8 may be reserved for
